DEXPLORE Partners Contribute to Strategic Dialogue on Raw Materials in Greece

Mar 25, 2025 | Events

Athens, Greece – November 25, 2024 – November proved to be a highly productive month for the Horizon Europe-funded DEXPLORE project, marked by a series of prominent contributions to key geoscientific and policy-related events across Europe.

Following a strong presence at the Lithosphere 2024 Symposium in Finland, DEXPLORE concluded its second month with another milestone: active participation in the 9th Greek Raw Materials Community Dialogue, held on November 20 in Athens. The event was organized by the EIT RawMaterials RIS Hub Greece and remains the flagship gathering for stakeholders in Greece’s raw materials ecosystem.

The 2024 edition of the Dialogue placed a particular focus on the implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) - a cornerstone policy for securing Europe’s sustainable supply of critical raw materials. Representatives from DEXPLORE partners CORE Innovation, ICCS, and MNLT took part in the event, contributing both technical insights and policy perspectives.

Key DEXPLORE Contributions:

Session 2: “The Need to Innovate and the Conditions to Implement – Bridging the Gap”

  • ICCS (Institute of Communication and Computer Systems): Hyperspectral Imaging from Exploration to Mineral Classification
  • MNLT (Manifold Technology): The Challenge of Innovating as a Greek SME: Opportunities and Obstacles

Poster Session: “Education and Innovation Meet the Industry”

  • CORE Innovation: DEXPLORE: Innovating Deep-Land Critical Mineral Exploration for a Sustainable Future

These interventions highlighted DEXPLORE’s strategic mission: to support innovative, data-driven, and sustainable exploration of deep-seated Critical Raw Materials (CRM) in Europe. The project's emphasis on cross-sector collaboration, cutting-edge imaging technologies, and SME engagement underscores its alignment with the EU’s broader raw materials strategy.

The Greek Raw Materials Community Dialogue offered an important opportunity to demonstrate how DEXPLORE directly contributes to the implementation of the CRMA.
