As Europe accelerates its green and digital transitions, ensuring a secure, sustainable, and autonomous supply of critical raw materials (CRMs) has become a strategic priority. The Horizon Europe-funded projects DEXPLORE, UNDERCOVER, and TERRAVISION are at the forefront of innovation in deep CRM exploration and sustainable resource monitoring, combining cutting-edge geoscience, digital technologies, and Earth Observation tools.
Recognising their shared goals, these projects are joining forces to organise “Exploring Together: Advancing Innovation in Deep-Land Critical Raw Materials Exploration,” a joint clustering event taking place on 19 November 2025 at Hotel Marivaux (Brussels) as part of the Raw Materials Week 2025.
The event will gather a diverse community of stakeholders, including European Commission representatives, policymakers, geological surveys, industry leaders, research institutions, and EU-funded projects, to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of CRM exploration.
Driving collaboration in European raw materials exploration
“Exploring Together” marks the first joint clustering activity uniting EU projects focused on deep CRM exploration. The event aims to enhance interoperability of tools and data models, share technical advances, and identify joint solutions to key challenges such as permitting, community engagement, and sustainable exploration practices.
The programme features the participation of DEXPLORE, UNDERCOVER, and TERRAVISION, alongside other Horizon Europe and INTERREG initiatives including DeepBEAT, MINOTAUR, PERSEPHONE, MINEYE, SEMACRET, AGEMERA, and EMRIE, which will present their latest findings and innovation outcomes.

- Session 1 – Project overviews and strategic alignment (09:25 – 11:05)
Opening remarks, project presentations, and a panel discussion with speakers from DG GROW, DG RTD, and project coordinators from LGI, GTK, SINTEF, and ISMC. - Session 2 – Technical synergies and shared challenges (11:05 – 12:35)
Exploring innovations in subsurface imaging, AI-driven exploration, geophysical data integration, and remote sensing, with contributions from DeepBEAT, MINOTAUR, PERSEPHONE, MINEYE, SEMACRET, and AGEMERA. - Session 3 – Stakeholders workshop (13:45 – 15:10)
Interactive workshop addressing data interoperability, sustainable exploration practices, and user engagement. The session will feature inputs from the European Commission’s STEP Task Force, researchers, and industrial end-users.

By bringing together Europe’s leading CRM exploration projects and stakeholders, “Exploring Together” aims to strengthen collaboration, innovation, and impact across the Horizon Europe ecosystem.
The outcomes of this event will lay the groundwork for joint scientific publications, policy recommendations, and coordinated participation in future conferences and trade fairs, reinforcing Europe’s path towards a resilient and responsible raw materials supply chain.
